By meeting this competency I demonstrate that I recognize the distinction between personal and professional values. Practice Behaviors:
1. Make ethical decisions applying the standards of the NASW Code of Ethics, relevant laws and regulations, models for ethical decision-making, ethical conduct of research and additional codes of ethics as appropriate to context.
2. Use reflection and self-regulation to manage personal values and maintain professionalism in practice situations.
3. Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior, appearance, and oral, written, and electronic communication.

Evidence Based Learning:
1. I demonstrated this practice behavior in practicum by using the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics when faced with ethical dilemmas. An example of this is a situation in which I had to complete a Child Protective Services (CPS) Report. In the classroom I demonstrated this by visiting the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) headquarters and becoming informed about regulations as well as ethics and ethical dilemmas they deal with.
2. In order to fulfill the requirements for this practice behavior I kept a weekly journal in which I reflected on my experiences during the that week. Here is an example of one of my weekly journals. In the classroom I reflected on my weekly experiences with my classmates while maintaining confidentiality.
3. I always conducted myself in a professional manner while at my practicum and while exchanging emails with my field instructor. In the classroom, I demonstrated this by always turning in professional work.
4. I used technology to gather information on research-based interventions for my practicum. In the classroom I used technology to enhance my learning of the social work profession.
