This competency helps ensure that social workers understand that evaluation is an ongoing component of social work practice. By meeting this competency I demonstrate that I recognize the importance of evaluating processes and outcomes to advance practice, policy, and service delivery effectiveness. As a social worker I vow to select and use appropriate methods for evaluation of outcomes, apply my knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the evaluation of outcomes.

Practice Behaviors:

Evidence Based Learning:
1. I demonstrated this practice behavior in my practicum by completing an Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC). In the classroom I demonstrated this by writing an analysis paper in order to evaluate my performance.
2. In order to fulfill the requirements for this practice behavior I discussed human behavior theories with my supervisor, and I created a worksheet explaining Erickson’s Developmental Stages. I shared this information during an Independent Living Group. In the classroom I analyzed this theory while conducting a bio-psycho-social.
3. Once a client was terminated I followed up with them once a week for one month and then once a month for three months. In the classroom I demonstrated this by discussing the importance of following up with clients.
4. I demonstrated this by openly and positively receiving feedback from clients and my supervisor in order to improve my social work skills. I conducted surveys in order to document client feedback. In the classroom I did this by receiving feedback from professors and by evaluating myself. Here is my self-evaluation for the group facilitation project.
