My mission is to provide knowledge and assistance to others to empower them in such a way that transforms lives.
I graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2016 with my Bachelor’s in Social Work. My field practice agency was within a place called East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, specifically, the Area Agency on Aging. I worked with various programs within the agency to assist disabled and aging adults in meeting their needs. I applied for scholarships and admission to Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida during my last few semesters of undergrad. I was accepted and received multiple scholarships. After graduation, I moved to Miami Shores, FL to attend Barry University. I was placed at Miami Jewish Health Systems, which was a 20-acre facility that had a long-term care facility, short-term rehabilitation facility, independent and assisted living units, and a hospital all on one campus. I worked primarily with long-term care residents and short-term care clients in rehab to ensure their goals and needs were being met. I completed one full semester and began the second semester, and had to put everything on hold with only 3 weeks left in the semester in order to come home to assist my daughter. After everything was taken care of for her and she was in her senior year of high school, I decided to apply to Southern Adventist University to complete my Masters. Although the road has not been easy to get to where I am today, I am now in my final semester of graduate school at Southern and could not be happier. I completed my practicum at Helen Ross McNabb Center where I served as a therapist for Medicare and private insurance clients, leading groups in the Intensive Outpatient setting, and teaching much-needed skills in a Peer Support setting. I am currently working McNabb Center as a PRN Health Link Care Coordinator/Case Manager/Trainer. I am also working at The Bridge Inc. of Alabama as an Outpatient Therapist-Qualified Substance Abuse Professional.
