I have developed a routine of implementing at least one self-care strategy per week, sometimes per day, into my life. This can range from spending time debriefing and destressing with my husband, having dinner out at a restaurant, going for a walk in our community, watching a television show, playing with my cats, cooking a new recipe, to going on a trip. Some other ways I have incorporated self-care into my life are aromatherapy, coloring, guided imagery, reciting the Quran, and listening to calming sounds. Throughout this semester, I have incorporated taking a short trip into each semester to get out of a routine that can lead to burn out and explore new environments. This has really helped me not to feel so overwhelmed or trapped in the same routine. For the future, I plan to incorporate taking a trip/vacation at least once or twice per year as a permanent way of preventing burn out.
