Design and implement social action strategies that demonstrate social, racial, economic; and environmental justice
In the Advanced Social Policy (SOSW-609) course, we had a group project where we had to reintroduce a piece of legislation that had failed to pass in congress. Our group chose a piece of legislation that was anti-bullying, but we added a restorative justice aspect to the piece. By using social justice and the Social Ecological Model to reintroduce this anti-bullying legislation with a restorative justice aspect, our group aimed to address a social issue that affects individuals across various demographics which also promotes racial, economic, and environmental justice. Part of this project was to make a fact sheet with information for our campaign to reintroduce this bill. Using my social work skills of policy knowledge and advocacy skills, I created the fact sheet below. I used the cognitive processes of applying and understanding and the affective process of responding.
