Competency 4: Research

Engage in Practice-Informed Research and Research-Informed Practice

Both understanding as well as conducting research are an important part of who I am as a person and as an advanced generalist social worker. I am committing to selecting evidence-based research to guide my practice in order to enhance the wellbeing of the individuals, communities, and systems in which I serve. Throughout my career as an advanced social worker, I will use research that I conduct to improve practice and to help raise awareness of societal problems as well as disseminate research to inform and guide my practice with individuals and systems and to promote understanding and improve practice in a way that is ethical, culturally informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive.
