Course Evidence For Practice Behavior 6.1

Examine evidence-based practices to prepare for professional engagement across systems

During the Advanced Social Policy (SOSW-609) class, part of our group project involved us coming up with a positional map of detractors and supporters, and opponents and proponents for the reintroduction of SB0916.  Using the social work skills and knowledge of critical thinking and strategic planning, we put together this map to help us to identify the stakeholders who may advocate for our bill, helping us to prepare for who may be a challenge for us, and overall to be able to lead us on our advocacy strategies while recognizing the importance of these human relationships. The cognitive process of evaluating was used in this assignment as well as the affective process of receiving.  The Power and Interest Theory was the theoretical framework that guided this process.

The full paper can be found here and our positional maps are found in Appendix A on pages 40 and 41.
