I could not use the FEMA material because my daughter is Intellectually and Developmentally Delayed, is nonverbal, and uses an AAC device to speak. Due to her abilities, I<strong> researched and analyzed<\/strong> evidence-based practices to include her in <strong>contributing t<\/strong>o the planning and executing of the preparedness plan. By focusing on <strong>Strength-based theory<\/strong>, I\u00a0 found a social story and other materials that would be <strong>engaging and integrate<\/strong> my daughter&#8217;s <strong>strengths<\/strong>. Using this, my daughter was shown <strong>dignity<\/strong> by having the material accessible and including her in the preparation.
