Competency #3: Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice
PRACTICE BEHAVIORS:
*3A: Demonstrate leadership in advocating for human rights, social, economic, and environmental justice: Competency three has been one of the most eye-opening experiences as I have learned more about social media, suicide, and bullying. I have focused more on the age limit of social media and if laws are protecting children that are online. I have learned about the Child Protection Act for children ages 13 and under.
*3B: Design and implement social action strategies: During my practicum, many individuals completing assessments reported their use of social media. Unfortunately I was only able to discuss the use of social media and screen time with adults due to the population I was working with. During the COVID-19 pandemic, having accessing to clients in the youth department, was harder to access due to all services being home based and being virtual.
