*4A: Engage in a review of contemporary best practices: Competency four has been extremely beneficial by discovering the different techniques of therapy with multiple clients that I serve. Some have engaged in CBT while others have utilized EMDR. I have obtained information on each modality and desire to utilize in my future career as a social worker. However, I have realized EMDR therapy is intensive and requires additional training to be certified. I feel this would be a great step for me!

*4B: Conduct research that responds to social work practice needs: During my education, I was able to engage in multiple training videos showing CBT and EMDR therapy. I was also provided the access to CITI training for plagiarism, research misconduct, and research involving human subjects. Throughout my practicum, several clients reported engaging in EMDR therapy before the COVID-19 pandemic but unable to continue during. Due the physical need for the client and therapist to be in person, EMDR therapy was reported by therapist of it’s ineffectiveness. Luckily, CBT therapy was able to continue due to the ability of approved telehealth services in the state of Virginia.
