Self-Care Plan

As a professional social worker, my plan for self-care will be essential. Understanding ways to obtain time for myself at least one day per week can be beneficial for my mental health and well-being. I plan to continue to utilize a more holistic approach for self-care:

  • Purchasing my own red light therapy bed
  • Going for walks
  • Reading
  • Massages
  • Manicures/Pedicures
  • Hiking
  • Taking baths
  • Prayer

Philosophy:

Throughout my life, my spiritual guidance has provided me stepping stones, storms, and comfort through all things experienced. I believe having a spiritual compass and utilizing that guide can access the desired goals. Believing in self worth, uniqueness, and willing to be vulnerable can allow all individuals to know themselves better. Mistakes are not erasable but can be a learning tool for others and for a better future to walk down a different path. My philosophy relates to my mission statement: “it is not how you start out in life, it is how you finish it”. Regardless of what each individual is given when their life begins, they hold the key to change and obtain what they need for their future to be successful.

Career Goals:

Career goals are just that, goals. Something we think will be our future regardless of anything changing within the family, community, or world. My career goal entails anything and everything. My scope of practice has been widened and acknowledging the change in the world. I am willing to work with youth, adults, and geriatric adults. My desire for my career is to obtain a well rounded knowledge of all fields from social services, mental health, and even administration. In the end of my career, I do hope to become a professor at a local and true Christian college. I want to be able to share my experiences and advocate for the importance of social work. Due to the unforeseen circumstances regarding our world and political leaders, I feel it is now the most important and influential time to be become a social worker.
