Advance Human Rights and Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice
As a social worker, we are suppose to understand that every person has fundamental human rights that include: freedom, safety, privacy, an adequate standard of living, health care, and education. Social workers have the knowledge about theories of human need and social justice to promote social and economic justice and human rights. Social workers understand strategies that ensure everyone that social goods, rights, and responsibilities are distributed equitably and that civil, political, environmental, economic, social, and culture human rights are protected.
Practice Behaviors
- apply their understanding of social, economic, and environmental justice to advocate for human rights at the individual and system levels; and
- engage in practices that advance social, economic, and environmental justice.
Academic Evidence:
In my Intro to Social Work course we were introduce to the NASW Code of Ethics. In this class we were assigned to write a paper about our understanding of these standards and how we would implement them as future social workers and students.
Practicum Evidence:
I had the chance to attend several all-staff meetings throughout this year. I was able to discuss about different aspects in the county and how we were doing statistically and what we can do better. We discussed what can be done for improvement and how. Here I attached the agenda of the .All-Staff Meeting and proof that I attended the meeting.
