Engage with individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
Social workers should understand that engagement is an ongoing component of social work practice with diverse individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Social workers should value human relationships and understand strategies of engaging with diverse clients to have more advanced practice effectiveness. As a social worker, I will value principles of relationship-building and inter-professional collaboration to facilitate engagement with clients, constituencies, and other professionals as appropriate.
Practice Behaviors
- Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks to engage with clients and constituencies.
- Use empathy, reflection, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse clients and constituencies.
Academic Evidence:
To show that I am prepared to engage with clients by applying my personal knowledge on faith. I wrote a paper on Integration of Faith in Practice. This paper was based on my integration of faith and based on an interview of a Christian social worker.
integration of faith and practice-part II
I was able to practice my generalist social work skills with empathy and interpersonal skills through a case management interview with a pseudo-client. I demonstrated this and analyzed this in Analysis Paper Case Management Interview Project.
Practicum Evidence:
I was able to attend the Teen Maze. My county had a booth open that I was able to help with. This booth was on Safe sleep. I got the opportunity to teach alongside my field instructor. Here is the guidelines and signed evidence Safe Sleep.
I was also able to present on ACES and how they affect the cases and children we work with everyday in the county and agency I was a part of. I also sent out a survey to find out my own research on the percentage of staff that already knew about ACES.
