7.1: In my field practicum at Parkridge Valley, I was able to do bio-psycho-social assessments on different patients. I was able to complete this practice behavior by completing the competency required of me at Parkridge Valley that requires completing bio-psycho-social assessments. As previously mentioned in my other competency, I was able to have the knowledge prior too engaging with each patient so I could be informed on their case and accurately assess the individual. This assessment was used to guide me through the course of the care of the patient and to understand their support system, religion, diversity, culture, and spiritual differences that are quite important to acknowledge and become self-aware of. Some of the skills that I used in these assessments were: active listening, questioning, responding, open and close ended questions, summarizing, and focusing. In this specific practice behavior I used systems theory and the biopsychosocial model . This model specifically involves different parts of a person that include: biological, psychological, and social factors that are important for any one individual’s mental health.
