Description:
As social workers, we take pride in advocating for human rights, economic, and environmental justice. With that pride, we practice the NASW Code of Ethics which offers a set of values and principles to help guide appropriate decision making. It provides clinicians with the autonomy to carry out ethical decision making while keeping true to the values of the dignity and worth of the person and the importance of human relationships.
Practice Behaviors:
- Demonstrate leadership in advocating for human rights, social, economic and environmental justice
- Design and implement social action strategies
3A Evidence: Demonstrate leadership in advocating for human rights, social, economic and environmental justice
- Course: During Graduate school I created a PowerPoint with a group of woman. This PowerPoint was addressing the women and men that have been Human Trafficked. It is advocating for their human rights and justices. The bill that my group and I focused on was H.R.507 Put Trafficking Victims First Act of 2019. This bill seeks to protect victims of sex trafficking from further exploitation. The individuals and groups who benefit greatly from this program are those who have been trafficked and those who are providing services. The primary goal of this policy is to cease human trafficking and ensure the safety of victims.
3B Evidence: Design and implement social action strategies
- Course: I was able to create a Policy Fact Sheet that was based on Human Trafficking. I was able to state the problems and possible solutions that can help this terrible and dangerous issue. This policy fact sheet will be associated with the organization “Eyes and Ears Chattanooga: Promoting Mental Health Services for Victims of Human Trafficking” and the Bill H.R. 507. This Policy Fact Sheet would be available online and will be attached to any subjects pertaining to Human Trafficking. The target audience is individuals that have been a victim of human trafficking.
