Description:

As social workers, we find it important to incorporate qualitative and quantitative research methods in advancing social science and in evaluating our practice. In order to build knowledge, we understand the values of logic, culturally informed and ethical approaches. There’s also an understanding of the procedures that it takes to decipher research findings, effectively.

Practice Behaviors:

  • Engage in a review of contemporary best practices
  • Conduct research that responds to social work practice needs

4A Evidence: Engage in a review of contemporary best practices

Course: I conduced a literature and resource review regarding my policy project. I created an Action Plan that reviewed historical movements, key figures, and political forces that discussed a few best practices based on human trafficking.

4B Evidence: Conduct research that responds to social work practice needs

Course: During my Trauma and Emergency Management I had to create a PowerPoint that discusses vicarious trauma and self-care. This PowerPoint allowed me to understand what Vicarious Traumatization was and why self-care played a huge role in it.
