Social workers recognize the value of these interactions in forming relationship. In engaging with people in a micro, mezzo, or macro level, social workers apply principles from their knowledge of human behavior and the social environment. With this knowledge, social workers utilize different techniques of engaging people in order to improve best practice. Social workers maintain self awareness regarding how their experiences and subsequent responses can impact interactions with clients. Social workers prioritize building relationships with the colleagues and clients they work with through professionally and positively engaging.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Practice Behaviors\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks to engage with clients and constituencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Use empathy, reflection, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse clients and constituencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h6>Evidences<\/h6>\n<p><strong>Class:<\/strong> During SOCW 312 Social Work Practice with Individuals, we discussed the importance of warmly and professionally engaging clients. Throughout the class, I practiced engagement in several mock interviews. I then wrote an <a href=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/darceechristensen\/files\/2019\/03\/P1-Engagement-Skills-Assessment.pdf\">Engagement Skills Assessment<\/a>, in which I reflected on my strengths and weaknesses, responded to peer feedback, and created a plan for improvement. The following practice behaviors were demonstrated: <strong>1 &amp; 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Field:\u00a0<\/strong>While completing my 400 hour practicum at Starr Regional Medical Care Senior Care Program, I had many opportunities to engage with patients, families, professionals from other facilities, and those within the interdisciplinary team. Since I interact frequently with those in the geriatric population, I took time to think about how my understanding of Erick Erickson&#8217;s Stages of Development enabled me to more effectively engage and reported my thoughts in a <a href=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/darceechristensen\/files\/2019\/03\/F18C6.1-Human-Behavior-and-Engaging.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reflection<\/a>.
