Service Activities

Some of the activities I have engaged in on campus have included F.L.A.G. Camp (now under the name of S.W.A.G. Camp) West Side for Jesus, and Martin Luther King Day.

In F.L.A.G. Camp, students from Southern Adventist University went into the underprivileged east part of downtown Chattanooga and played with the children. After an hour of fun, volunteers settle down with the children to share a Bible story. The same went for West Side for Jesus, however the children visited lived on the west side of Chattanooga.

Martin Luther King Day is a service day in January in which the students go out into the community and dedicate eight hours into completing a project such as a soup kitchen, a dignified shopping experience, and rebuilding worn-out classrooms. My project in 2017 was helping to set up and take down the shopping mall we created at the Salvation Army in Chattanooga. Parts of this outreach included helping homeless men and women find heavy jackets to stave off the winter weather, and matching them with clothes that caught their fancy.
