Lasting change is possible when deep connections are formed, needs are expressed, and mutual goals are established. By engaging with diverse groups of people, we are becoming more acquainted with their challenges, ideals, strengths, and cultural norms.<\/p>\n<h3>Practice Behaviors<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Review knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks to engage with clients and constituencies.<\/li>\n<li>Observe and initiate empathy, reflection, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse clients and constituencies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Evidence<\/h3>\n<h3><em>Academic Experience<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>In November of 2018, I participated in a voting engagement party hosted at a recreational center in Chattanooga. It was at this event that I had the honor of meeting with former democratic representative, Tommie Brown. I spoke with her for an hour on what it was like growing up in the deep south of the United States, what it meant for her to be an inspiration for Black women who did not feel represented in forms of higher government, and how she chose to spend retirement giving back to her community. In<a href=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Voter-Engagement-Product.pdf\"> my report<\/a> of this event, I share what it was like meeting a former representative and speaking to the Chattanooga coalition of voters.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Field Experience<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>I can safely say this practicum has been one of challenges, uncomfortable experiences, and personal growth. I have had the opportunity to speak on behalf of my practicum on more than one occasion, each time I became slightly more confident. In October of 2018, Feed My Sheep partnered with the University Church to raise awareness of food insecurity on Southern&#8217;s campus and gather food donations from church members. By the time I packed all the donations into my car, there was barely enough room for me! What an amazing problem to have \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-242 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/1540072664916-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"359\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/1540072664916-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/1540072664916-768x470.jpg 768w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/1540072664916-1024x627.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/1540072664916.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 359px) 100vw, 359px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On October 10 2018, I found myself driving downtown to attend <a href=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/AFP-Mixer-tickets.pdf\">a mixer event<\/a> designed for non-profit organizations to come together, find support among other organizations, and build connections to community stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-254\" src=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture-1-1024x342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture-1-1024x342.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture-1-300x100.jpg 300w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture-1-768x256.jpg 768w, https:\/\/swpro.org\/emair\/files\/2019\/03\/Capture-1.jpg 1081w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In February of 2019, Feed My Sheep began networking with the California based company, Swipe Out Hunger.
