Self-Care Plan

Self-Care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you. – Katie Reed

Self-care is an important aspect of my life and it encourages me to pay adequate attention to my well-being. I intentionally practice self-care multiple times a week through mindfulness, exercise, and other various activities.  Prioritizing my emotional and mental well-being allows me to adequately intervene with clients.

My go-to form of self-care is through mindfulness and breathing techniques. These are practices that you can exercise anywhere, anytime, and at any duration. Mindfulness and breathing techniques help me become aware of the present moment and less focused on the future. I practice mindfulness and breathing techniques sporadically throughout the day. My plan is to continue utilizing these practices at least twice a week and experimenting with new techniques.

Another form of self-care that I utilize regularly is exercise and physical activity. I understand the positive effects exercise has on the brain and mental health.  Currently, I go to the gym three days a week and complete High-Intensity Interval Training. Other forms of exercise that I have tried at the gym include Pound Fitness, Rebel Strength, Rebel Groove, Zumba, and Yoga. I also enjoy walking or hiking, when the weather allows. My plan is to continue these activities at least three times a week. I am excited to continue experimenting with different exercises and physical activities.

Other ways that I practice self-care include spending time with family, crafting, scheduling time alone, journaling, reading, time management, and maintaining a schedule. I will continue to implement these self-care strategies as needed.
