Competency 9: Evaluate individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Introduction:  As a professional social worker, I will use evidence-based strategies to evaluate individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. I will commit to improving practices with clients and systems by leading efforts to evaluate programs using quantitative and qualitative approaches effectively.

9.1 – Select evidence-based evaluation strategies according to their efficacy with specific client systems

Course Evidence: For SOCW 618, my group developed a New Organization Proposal which included a Human Resources Plan (2.5, 2.6). We researched evidence-based evaluation strategies for the human resources department of our proposed organization. We employed Social Exchange Theory to create a plan for maintaining employee engagement and commitment.

Field Evidence: For my practicum, I led a Self-Care Group for the women in the YHDP program. For one group session, I used my active-listening skills to walk my client through creating an Eco-Map to help my client evaluate her social supports and relational connections.

9.2 – Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of practice outcomes across systems

Course Evidence: For SOCW 612 – Advanced Administrative Practice: Program Development, my team evaluated data measures for the programs Logic Model. The **insert SOCW 612 – Logic Model Data collection and measure outputs**. We used our social work knowledge of interprofessional collaboration to design this program with measurable outputs. We used our skills of problem-solving and critical thinking to analyze our proposed program.

Field Evidence: In my practicum, I created a survey on Google Forms to evaluate the life skills of our clients. This survey is part of a complete policy revision that requires all new clients to participate in life skills trainings. Clients are required to take the survey at intake, after ninety days, and at discharge. The survey was instituted in February of 2024 and results were gathered as case managers visited clients. I evaluated the results of the survey using formulas on Google Sheets. The results of the Life Skills Survey revealed that the clients had improved their life skills by 7.06% in the first several months. I sent a Life Skills Survey Evaluation Email with this information to the team.
