School of Social Work-Social Work Major of the Year<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was honored and humbled by the honor of Social Work major of the year. This award was based on academics, professionalism, and intentionality with active learning and growth.<\/p>\n

Certificate of Participation in Campus Research Day<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

I was given two of these certificates of participation for my participation in Campus Research Day at Southern Adventist University. I presented one research project with classmates, and I presented another research project that I worked on with two professors in the Social Work department (discussed more in the competency sections).<\/p>\n

CITI Program Certificate<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This certificate was required to be completed to continue with research for my social work Research 1 course. The training discussed the ethics involved with research.<\/p>\n

QPR<\/a> Certificate\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This training was focused on educating students on suicide prevention. This was impactful, because no matter what career I am in, I will continually be aware of the signs of someone struggling with suicidal ideations. This training reminded me that a “loving neighbor” must be equipped to seek help for those in need.<\/p>\n

Anti-Racism Pledge Certificate\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

This training was a pledge to be an anti-racism advocate. The training was conducted by a religion professor alongside a social work professor. They discussed the importance of being an anti-racist advocate in our society, and challenged us to continue to be intentional about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion as social workers and as students.<\/p>\n

FERPA Training <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ferpa training is crucial for all employees and student employees to abide by. Ferpa training is intended to inform employees of students’ rights to privacy under the law. For example, I was required to do this training as a student mentor. In the context of this job, I could not disclose student information to parents or unauthorized personnel who were not indicated on the student account. I consider this training as the “HIPPA” regulation, but in academia.<\/p>\n
