Competency 9: Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, and Communities
Evaluation is a never ending part of being a social worker. As we are always striving to do better for our clients, evaluating programs and interventions can be a way to discover strengths and weaknesses. Identifying these factors can help improve services provided which will result in better client outcomes.
Practice Behaviors
- Select and use appropriate methods for evaluation of outcomes.
- Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary frameworks in the evaluation of outcomes.
- Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate intervention and program processes and outcomes.
- Apply Evaluation findings to improve practice effectiveness at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
Evidence
Field
In my practicum placement, I evaluated the geriatrics program by tallying up client satisfaction survey results. I then analyzed the results and created a plan of action for the agency in order to improve upon services.
Academic
To understand the impact that the OAKS psycho-educational group had on the students I developed a feedback survey. Students filled this out on their session.
