Social work is one of the broadest fields to work in. Due to the wide range of settings, social workers can engage with various populations, ethnicity, cultures, and traditions. I understand I will interact with clients that have diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. Therefore, being culturally competent and conscious of my own differences is required for comprehension, providing the appropriate services and resources to clients. I respect and value the dignity and worth of all human beings. In addition, in abiding by the Code of Ethics, I will address and advocate for any type of discrimination a client experiences.

2A – Develop and implement strategies that strive to eradicate discrimination in any form
Field Evidence: For practicum, I developed a research paper describing (Cognitive level: knowledge) how people of color are experiencing discrimination throughout the states, during the pandemic of COVID-19. Reports have stated that people of color have been declined services and testing of COVID-19. The city of Newark, NJ was considered the highest city with the most cases of COVID-19. As a result, I created a COVID-19 testisting site list for residents of Newark to display (Affective level: characterization) justice to the residents. 2B – Implement evidence-based and culturally-informed strategies with diverse populations
Course Evidence: In my Advanced Administrative Practice class, my classmates and I created (Cognitive level: synthesis) an organization proposal as an assignment. The assignment required research and writing skills. The organization is called Proposito. The organization’s mission is to provide holistic services to immigrants living in the Chattanooga, Tennessee community. To render proper services, we shared evidenced-based interventions in working with immigrants in the organization proposal. To view the organization proposal, please click here.
