As I was reading this week’s assignment about positive health habits I could not help but to think about habits in my own life. I have always believed myself to be in good shape and living a healthy life style but the more I looked I started seeing little things that I can and need to change which do affect my health. I work out several days a week, run and eat foods that are good for me but it appears even doing these things are not guaranteed to keep you healthy. I get little sleep at night and I’m stressed out often now that I am back in school and according to the text these are two important aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle.
We have all heard that it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks, well I believe it’s the same with humans. Take for example the New Year just rolled around and many people made New Year resolutions. Within a month these resolutions are broken and people go about their old lifestyle thinking that’s it’s too hard to change. I think that one needs to focus on creating a new habit that will lead to achieving your goal. By focusing not on what you have to achieve over the next year, but instead on what you are doing each day, you are focusing on something achievable. Little changes add up over time and you will be surprised at how much you have gained in no time.
