Welcome to my Social Work Portfolio!

Introduction

Hello!

Welcome to my brief display which encompasses the academic and professional journey I have been on. A little bit about me: I am currently a student working towards my Masters of Social Work degree from Southern Adventist University. There are many events in my life which have pointed me towards this adventure of becoming a practicing social worker. Since I can remember, I have constantly been intensely interested and carefully observant of the people I encounter on a daily basis. I have always been deeply enticed by those fields, professionals, and schools of thought who aim to address the human experience on any and all levels.

Throughout my elementary and secondary educational years, I noticed the variety of struggles which my peers and I faced as a result of juggling individual problems, intrapersonal conflicts, mental health struggles, and academic stresses. In these early seasons I developed a strong desire to educate myself on the many existing issues, interventions, and research studies which strive to help children and youth as they embark upon their important years of growth. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2017, I decided to further approach a field which aligned with this calling to address the various needs of young people. Though the process of striving for academic success while interacting with a field which is at times emotionally challenging might seem daunting, there has never been a moment where I have questioned whether or not I am in the place where I was meant to be all along. Excited is an understatement as I eagerly and ambitiously look forward to the many years ahead of me in this remarkable field of social work!!!

My Personal Mission Statement:

It is my mission that I utilize my own skills, the surrounding community resources, and relevant research to advocate for and intervene with those who are vulnerable, to protect the human rights of all people, to address injustices which exist around and beyond me, and to empower those individuals I encounter each step of the way.
