Competency 8: Intervention

Intervene with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations and Communities

Another ongoing part of a Social Workers job is, to when given consent, intervene on behalf of clients we work with. We are to be knowledgeable about evidence-informed interventions in order to reach goals that have been set. Social Workers use collaboration to implement evidence informed interventions that they have come to know through their understanding of theories and environment.

Practice Behaviors

1. Critically choose and implement interventions to achieve practice goals and enhance capacities of clients and constituencies.

2. Analyzing knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the analysis of assessment data from clients and constituencies.

3. Use inter-professional collaboration as appropriate to achieve beneficial practice outcomes.

4. Negotiate, mediate, and advocate with and on behalf of diverse clients and constituencies.

5. Facilitate effective transitions and endings that advance mutually agreed-on goals.

Academic Evidence

I encapsulated my experience of the Case Management Interview Project #2. Using PowerPoint I created a Case Presentation which demonstrates practice using evidenced-based interventions for the pseudo-client interviewed.

Internship Experience

To enhance capacities of the patient I connected a mother of patient on how to apply for TennCare insurance. I chose to implement this form of intervention to achieve practice goals for clients without medical coverage.
