Competency 9: Evaluation

Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations and Communities

Evaluation is the final competency that emphasizes the ongoing process of evaluating our intervention and assessment methods on behalf of our clients, families, groups, organizations and communities. Recognizing the importance of evaluation allows us to view the process and outcomes to advance not only our practice, but policy and service as well. As Social Workers we use qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluative effectiveness, allowing us to improve our delivery.

Practice Behaviors

1. Select and use appropriate methods for evaluation of outcomes.

2. Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the evaluation of outcomes.

3. Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate, intervention and program processes and outcomes.

4. Apply evaluation findings to improve practice effectiveness at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.

Academic Evidence

During my Junior year practicum, I demonstrated this competency by critically analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating intervention and program processes and outcomes of the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. I created a powerpoint presentation for theĀ Organizational Assessment.

Internship Evidence

I attended a meeting for the hospital’s database EPIC to help patients navigate My-Chart. I critically analyzed how this would aid patients in program process.
