Introduction: As a component social worker, I will advocate for my clients by staying informed and educated on new laws and policies that are steadily changing. Displayed by speaking to local and state representatives to seek change for policies. I would also explain and inform clients of their rights and understanding of policies. I believe in enhancing the social work practice with having a continued knowledge and practice of policies. I will help individuals in a clinical environment to reach their personal goals in life.

8A-Implement clinical evidence-based intervention with individuals, families, and/or groups

Course Evidence: For SOCW 617Advanced Clinical Practice: Group Psychotherapeutic Assessment, Psychopathology and Psychotherapeutic Skills, I created a pseudo group counseling session to demonstrate my ability to use evidence-based clinical interventions. The video below demonstrates the use of therapeutic techniques. Please view the video at this link.

Field Evidence: I would implement clinical evidence-based interventions when I would teach the group process at the hospital as well as during my individual sessions at IOP. I would research a topic and provide informational worksheets, educational videos, and promote discussion of the topic during group process.

Skills: Communication, critical thinking, and advocacy were the skills established during this competency.

Knowledge: I utilized feedback from my professor during my Pseudo Group Counseling video to help gain knowledge and insight into how I can grow in my group therapy skills.

Values: Service, social justice, and the importance of human connection were the values displayed throughout this competency.

Cognitive: Application was the cognitive focus for this competency. Much of the work involved delivering presentations and conducting interviews to garner support. Additionally, during the group demonstration, I applied what I learned in class and from the readings.

Affective: The affective process of responding was evident when I engaged in team problem-solving and applied what I had learned in practice.
