This competency helps ensure that social workers understand that assessment is an ongoing component of social work practice. By meeting this competency I demonstrate that I understand methods of assessment with diverse clients and constituencies to advance practice effectiveness. As a social worker I vow to be aware that my personal experiences and reactions may affect my assessment and decision-making.

Practice Behaviors:
1. Collect and organize data, and apply critical thinking to interpret information from clients and constituencies.
2. Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the analysis of assessment data from clients and constituencies.
3. Develop mutually agreed-on intervention goals and objectives based on the critical assessment of strengths, needs, and challenges within clients and constituencies.
4. Select appropriate intervention strategies based on the assessment, research, knowledge, and values and preferences of clients and constituencies.
Evidence Based Learning:
1. I demonstrated this practice behavior in practicum by creating a timeline and and eco-map with my client. In the classroom I demonstrated this by gathering information from pseudo clients in order to fill out their bio-psycho-social.
2. In order to fulfill the requirements for this practice behavior I conducted and Individual Program Plan (IPP) for my client. In the classroom I demonstrated this by creating SMART goals with pseudo clients.
3. I met this requirement by creating SMART goals with my client after discussing her reasons for being at Bethel Bible Village. In the classroom I demonstrated this by creating SMART goals with my pseudo client after conducting a bio-psycho-social assessment.
4. I demonstrated this by researching intervention methods based on my knowledge on the client, and my supervisors guidance. In the classroom I demonstrated this by recommending specific services for the pseudo client mentioned above as well as conducting an organizational assessment on La Paz Chattanooga.
