Evaluate Practice with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations and Communities
Evaluation is the final competency that emphasizes the ongoing process of evaluating our intervention and assessment methods on behalf of our clients, families, groups, organizations and communities. Recognizing the importance of evaluation allows us to view the process and outcomes to advance not only our practice, but policy and service as well. As Social Workers we use qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluative effectiveness, allowing us to improve our delivery.
Practice Behaviors
- Select and use appropriate methods for evaluation of outcomes.
- Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the evaluation of outcomes.
- Critically analyze, monitor, and evaluate, intervention and program processes and outcomes.
- Apply evaluation findings to improve practice effectiveness at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
Academic Evidence:
While at my practicum my Junior year, I was able to demonstrate this competency by critically analyzing, monitoring, and evaluation myself. I also got the chance to do this with intervention and program processes and outcomes of the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, where I was located. I was able to create a powerpoint presentation for the Organizational Assessment Presentation.
Practicum Evidence:
At my internship I had the chance to examine developmental stages and how it affects the child’s development. I was able to assess and and see how it applied to evidence based theory. I reviewed the Family Developmental Stages and Tasks and saw how it affected the lives of different stages of children. I was also able to demonstrate this competency by attaining feedback
