7: Human Behavior

(7.1) Utilize conceptual frameworks to guide the processes of assessment, intervention, and evaluation.

Field: I demonstrated this practice behavior when I went with the Ombudsman and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) director to the local senior center to discuss times in which they could talk to the seniors about volunteer opportunities. I connected this experience to the Theory of Successful Aging in my journal that week.

Class:  For Social Work Practice with Individuals and Families (SOCW 310) I created a case presentation following a psued0-client I had been working with. The case presentation highlights the various processes of assessment, intervention, and evaluation that I used with my client.

(7.2) Critique and apply knowledge to understand person and environment.

Field: During my voter engagement presentation at the VOR quarterly training on November 7, 2017, I connected the importance of civic engagement with HBSE theories including the activity theory of successful aging.

Class: For Human Behavior in the Social Environment (SOCW 311), one of the theories we looked at was “person in the social environment.” In order to better understand this theory, we each conducted a bio-psycho-social history on ourselves and wrote a paper on it. The bio-psycho-social assessment helps practitioners to understand their clients’ histories in order to help them in the present.
