2. Advance Human Rights and Social, Racial, Economic, and Environmental Justice
Human rights and equality are fundamental to my work, and I am deeply committed to advocating for justice. I believe that every individual, regardless of their background, deserves dignity, fairness, and access to essential rights. Recognizing the impact of cultural, racial, environmental, and socio-economic disparities within our societal and governmental structures is crucial to addressing systemic inequality.
I remain dedicated to actively listening to my clients’ experiences, researching the complexities of discrimination and oppression, and collaborating with other professionals to drive meaningful change. This commitment involves staying informed on political developments, legislative policies, evidence-based practices, and community initiatives. My goal is to inspire others through my passion for justice and equality while demonstrating leadership in advancing equitable opportunities for all.
2.1. Promote awareness of human rights and social, racial, economic, and environmental justice through social action strategies in professional practice.
Course Evidence: For my School Social Work emphasis II class, I completed a powerpoint
For my final exam in Human Behavior in the Social Environment, I conducted a case analysis of an adolescent, exploring the various factors influencing their visit. Applying Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory, I identified the client’s psychosocial stage of development and examined how it shaped their awareness of social, racial, economic, and environmental factors. Specifically, on page 5, I analyzed the client’s understanding of social and cultural influences, as well as the broader systemic factors affecting their experiences. This analysis strengthened my ability to promote awareness of human rights and social justice through social action strategies in professional practice, deepening my understanding of the complex interplay between these factors and their impact on client well-being.
