5.1 Advocate with and inform stakeholders to impact policy

During the fall semester, my cohorts and I advocated for an amendment to Tennessee Bill 7006 to include a needs assessment for more psychiatric hospitals throughout Tennessee instead of just one city. In the policy brief, we outlined the injustice of the lack of mental resources for the uninsured, the current situation, and the recommendations for how to proceed in treating the noninsured with dignity and worth. The policy brief (see pages 60-62) uses emotion and investment theory to inform stakeholders about the amendment we are advocating. By using this theory, we will appeal to people’s emotions, which will persuade them to act. See Policy Brief here: Social Policy Final Paper
