I conducted a Recovery Kit needs assessment with the DAT responders and Recovery Care Workers. This needs assessment was accomplished through a formal and informal interview process. Before distribution of the Recovery Kits, I met with the DAT responders to educate them on the material in the kits and how to distribute them to the clients. Sharing information that I gathered while taking Crisis and Emergency Management courses, I explained how trauma affects our brain, how important it is to know their reactions are common, and how coping skills work to decrease stress levels. This information will create a more competent responder who will understand the reaction, especially nonverbal behavior, that the client may exhibit and empathize more easily with the client.  See here for the survey and responses: Survey for Responders and Survey Responses
