While writing a grant proposal for the Chattanooga Purpose Center, I researched the best practices for vulnerable children and their families to understand the population’s needs. As I was researching, I noticed a theme of how families that are in danger of being in foster care or are in foster care are often from those of a lower socioeconomic status and do not have the resources and social and emotional needs to help keep the family together or cannot afford the items needed to get their children back in their home. In connection with CarePortal, Chattanooga Purpose Center stands in that gap and helps the family receive the tangible items needed while offering to walk alongside the family to provide the social and emotional support needed.
