Competency Three: Engage Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (AEDI) in Practice

Introduction:  As a social worker, I engage in Anti-Racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. I do this by seeking opportunities to engage and learn from people with diverse backgrounds in my workplace and community. With the knowledge gained, I advocate by joining causes that fight oppression that affects my community and clients. I use self-reflection to help identify personal biases and then apply diversity training to help combat those biases. I also recognize that my clients/constituents are the experts of their own experiences. I also demonstrate anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices by researching and applying the appropriate culturally relevant evidence-based practice while working at micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
