As an American Red Cross Disaster Care Worker, I interacted with a client with warmth and genuineness while validating their emotions. I referred the client to resources, and after reviewing her confidentiality wishes, I made several phone calls to aid the client in finding housing, food, and clothing. By helping the client with housing, food, and clothing, I am attending to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and using Motivational Theory to help the client recover successfully from a fire.
