1.2 Implement supervisory and self-care strategies that integrate professional strengths, limitations, and challenges

I implemented weekly supervision with a set agenda that included challenges I faced while working at the American Red Cross. In discussing the frustrations, my field instructor helped me to understand that I was using Bias blind spot theory and needed to take my bias into account during my interactions. This theory allowed me to recognize how my bias played into the interaction and see the other person’s side, thus helping to resolve the conflict and respecting the other person’s beliefs.

I also committed to discussing self-care strategies I practiced with my field instructor, such as exercising, taking mental breaks, reading, etc., to help prevent burnout.
